ASD Cape Town is arguably Africa’s leading independent youth Soccer Development Academy, founded in 2009.

The ASD Technical Team, consists of ex-professionals and UEFA licensed coaches developing ASD scholars to play a high-tempo passing game in line with Europe’s top clubs.

ASD take a holistic approach to the development of our 30 scholars aged between 15 and 19. As well as preparing these individuals for all aspects of a potential career in professional soccer, we deliver the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, and through ASD’s partner charity ‘Ambassadors In Sport’, Soccer coaching courses and South African Premier Soccer League Life Skills Syllabus.

Since opening in 2009, ASD’s catalogue of achievements includes:

2009-2011: U17’s + U19’s remained unbeaten in league + cup

2009-2012: U17’s +U19’s remain unbeaten at home

2010: U17’s won national Engen Tournament

2011: U19’s Finalists of Metropolitan Premier Cup

2011: European Tour, U19’s beat Belgian Jupiler Pro League’s KV Mechelen 0-4, and RSC Anderlecht 1-4

2011: European soccer press labelled ASD ‘SA’s FC Barcelona’

2011: Ayanda Patosi + Ebrahim Seedat signed professional contracts at Sporting Lokeren. Patosi hailed ‘brightest young African talent in Europe’. Seedat selected for national U20’s + starts throughout 8 Nations Tournament in 2012

2011: ASD’s David Gateri makes his senior international debut for Kenya in front of 80,000 fans at Soccer City

2012: U19’s beat SC Braga, impress against Deportivo La Coruna, draw with El Jaish in Qatar + beat Kenya U20’s 3-1

2012: Devon Saal and Thabiso Posholi sign professional contracts with Milano NFD Division 1 side and Lucky Mshumpela with Santos. Ethen Sampson trials in October with MLS Vancouver Whitecaps.

October 2012 : Brandon Fernandes (arguably India’s hottest Soccer prospect) is invited for trials at English Premier League club, Reading FC and English Championship League club, Leicester FC.

2012: Both U19 and U17 teams finish season winning their respective leagues with Ajax Cape Town runners-up. 5 players selected for the National U17 squad in October.

2012: ASD takeover the running of Salt River Blackpool’s Vodacom (South African Football Association Division 2) franchise for season 2012/13.

ASD Cape Town has successfully developed and placed a number of its students in professional football since its inception in 2009 with the highest profile to date being Ayanda Patosi.

Ayanda plays for Sporting Lokeron in the Belgium Premier League and received a full international call up to South Africa’s national team “Bafana Bafana” in December 2012.

Ayanda is rated as one of the most exciting players in Belgium and one of the most exciting South African players.
